Montana’s Most Famous Restaurant Isn’t Where You Think

Montana has some iconic restaurants. There are some that have made history, like the longest-running family-owned Chinese restaurant in the country, at least for now. Butte’s Pekin Noodle Parlor may eventually change hands for the first time in over a hundred years.

Ruby’s Diner in Missoula was featured on an episode of the television show Yellowstone. I am not sure there are a lot of people who go to Ruby’s because of television fame. Mostly, they go there because it is a great old-time diner still serving up classic dishes for breakfast and lunch.  

You can add the long list of places in Montana where Guy Fieri has visited with his show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  Over the years, he has spent time in both Bozeman and Missoula. But those restaurants aren’t Montana’s most famous. 

According to Love Food, Montana’s Most Famous restaurant isn’t located in Bozeman, Billings, or Missoula. It is in Helena.  

Where Is Montana’s Most Famous Restaurant?

Lucca’s Fine Italian Restaurant, at 56 N. Last Chance Gulch, Helena, is considered Montana’s most famous restaurant.  

According to their website, Lucca’s has been voted the “Best Restaurant” in Montana in 2015, 2016, and 2017 by Business Insider magazine.  

What to Expect at Lucca’s Fine Italian

If you are looking for a dinner-only, fine-dining experience in Helena, they have you covered. If you want Sea Bass Piccata, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, and Gnocchi Alla Campania, then this is the place to go. They are open Wed-Sun from 5 p.m.-Close.

For as many times as I have been to Helena, I haven’t had the opportunity to dine at Lucca’s yet. It looks like it's time to add it to my list of places I need to try one of these days. So I can say I have eaten at Montana's most famous restaurant.
