Want a Career in Knife Making? Montana Company is Hiring
Growing up in Montana, my brother was obsessed with knives. I remember stopping at the 50,000 Silver Dollar gift shop every time we went to Spokane and my brother stared at all the knives, studying the handles and the blades.
It may not be unique to Montanans, but I've known quite a few Montanans who own special knives, ones used to gut fish on memorable fishing trips, or handed down from relatives.
One Montana knife company in particular is appreciated far and wide. If you follow the Bearded Butchers on Instagram or TikTok, they post about using knives from the Montana Knife Company.
Now imagine getting the opportunity to work at the place where the knives are made.
According to the Montana Knife Company website, they're looking for a Knife Tech that would help with assembly. The job description says, "This is a full-time position and you will be responsible for preparing and assembling knives, the manufacturing of our kydex sheaths, and packaging/fulfillment." If you're interesting in this industry, what a great place to get your start. The pay range is $20-25 and comes with some benefits.
Maybe knife assembly isn't in your skill set, but you'd still love to work for the company. They have other positions open.
- Assistant Controller
- Supply Chain Manager
Another really interesting position that would involve closer work with knife making is their opening for a CNC Programmer/Machinist. It's a highly skilled position and the job requirements include working with CAM and CAD software but also a preference for "experience working with materials ranging from hardened tool steels to titanium and abrasive composites."
Maybe I'll send the job postings to my brother.
