Montana Fighter Featured on UFC Pay Per View This Saturday

UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi has the most important fight in Montana's MMA history. On Saturday, October 22nd 2022, 27-year old "Sugar" Sean O'Malley from Helena will fight the #1 contender and former bantamweight (135 lbs) champion, 29-year old Petr Yan from Russia. It's very likely that the winner of their fight competes for the championship in their next bout. Sean has a fantastic professional record: 15 wins and 1 loss, with 11 of those wins coming by knock out or technical knock out, and 1 submission victory. With his flashy style and knock out power in both his hands and his feet, Sean is a tremendously exciting fighter to watch. That's why he's a fan favorite, with 2.5 million followers on Instagram.

Sean first caught the attention of the fans in 2017 on the first season of Dana White's Contender Series, the show where up-and-coming fighters compete for UFC contracts. He won the fight by knock out in the first round, but part of what makes that fight legendary is the commentary by none other than Snoop Dogg. Sean's opponent this Saturday, Petr Yan, has by far the best resumé of any fighter Sean has ever faced. Petr has beat some of the biggest names in the bantamweight division, and although he lost his last fight, it was a controversial split decision. After Sean and Petr do battle, the following fight is the bantamweight championship. Whoever holds the belt at the end of UFC 280 could be Sean's next opponent.
