As we continue to lose daylight each day here in Montana and inch towards fall there is a lot we have to look forward to. There is something special about autumn in Montana.

We have some of the best places in the country to watch fall foliage. There are already trees starting to see the change in leaves even though we are in mid-August. Before long we will see morning frost on the grass. Some parts of Montana may see frost even before we hit September.

The Old Farmers' Almanac is forecasting above average temperatures for Montana's fall. But beyond that, the almanac hadn't forecast what we can expect to see for winter weather, until now.

The Farmers' Almanac forecast for winter may make some skiers and snowboards very happy.

According to the forecast it's going to be a "wild ride" and they are expecting winter to "chill, snow, repeat."

Montana is located in the almanac's North Central U.S. zone. According to their forecast we could see a "classic winter wonderland". They are forecasting the Pacific Northwest mountains to see some "impressive snowfall totals" this winter. They are also forecasting a cold winter in Idaho and Washington.

All of that will be good news for Montana's ski resorts, if the forecast is accurate this year.
