There are milestones… and then there’s turning 100 years old.

And this year, the State of Montana is making sure those once-in-a-lifetime birthdays don’t go unnoticed.

How Montana Plans to Honor Centenarians

If you know someone in Montana who is turning 100 in 2026—or someone who is already 100 or older—the state wants to hear from you. The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) plans to honor centenarians at the 57th Annual Governors Conference on Aging on October 7, 2026, recognizing their incredible lives

DPHHS is asking Montanans who will turn 100 on or before Dec. 31, 2026, or already over the age of 100 to submit their name and a brief profile. All centenarians who submit information will receive a recognition certificate from Governor Greg Gianforte and have their story included in the centenarian booklet.

How to Submit a Centenarian’s Story

Forms need to be submitted by Sept. 1, 2026, to be included in the booklet and can be entered here.

Chances are, there’s someone in our community who fits that description. Maybe it’s a neighbor, a longtime local business owner, or even someone in your own family.

The state is encouraging Montanans to submit names so these individuals can be properly recognized later this fall. It’s a simple gesture, but one that can mean a lot—not just to the person being honored, but to their loved ones as well.

Because in a fast-moving world, it’s worth slowing down to celebrate the people who’ve seen it all.

Don’t Miss the Deadline to Participate

So if someone comes to mind, don’t keep it to yourself. This is one of those feel-good things Montana does really well—and it starts with you spreading the word.
