Montana has some of the most amazing views in the country. Some even say the world. Traveling around the state, occasionally I have some time to pull off the road and take a look at some of our amazing look-out points. I don’t do it enough these days–but I should.

There is something special about going over one of our many passes and seeing the views. There are a few places that are special to me. Heading over MacDonald Pass and looking towards Helena is very cool. I also appreciate the view while traveling to Flathead Lake on Highway 93, especially as you go over the hill by the Bison Range. Seeing the Mission Mountains is amazing.

TripAdvisor’s Surprising Rankings

There are so many beautiful lookout views to choose from. If you are looking for the best views, at least according to Stacker, using TripAdvisor rankings, we have the list of the top spots in Montana, as voted by visitors to our state. The top two spots were a surprise to me, and it just goes to show that some people who visit Montana don’t get to experience a lot of what we have to offer.

I am not sure which of the two top lookout spots was a bigger surprise.

The second most popular lookout view in Montana is the Berkeley Pit in Butte. The most polluted lake in Montana, and a designated Superfund site. That’s not to say the ‘Pit’ lacks beauty, but the second most beautiful in the state?

The lookout spot that has the best reviews on TripAdvisor is the Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster. I have seen many views around Flathead Lake, and most of them are spectacular. I haven’t ridden the coaster yet.

Are the Best Montana Views Overlooked?

None of my favorite Montana spots made the list. Maybe that’s a good thing. The more people who recommend visiting the Berkeley Pit, the better. See below for the best lookouts points in Montana.
