One of the biggest events in Missoula, and one that has gained national attention over the years, is the Missoula Marathon. Now, if you were thinking about signing up for the full marathon and waited until the last minute, it’s officially too late. The marathon has sold out in record time.

Record-Breaking Participation: Runners from Coast to Coast

This year’s main event will feature the largest field in event history with 1,700 registered runners representing all 50 states and 11 different countries. That continues to show just how much the Missoula Marathon has grown into a true destination race.

Join the Fun: Half Marathon and Other Events Still Open

There is still some good news if you were hoping to participate. The half marathon still has openings available. According to a press release from Trisha Drobeck from the Missoula Marathon, there are about 500 spots remaining, although organizers expect those to fill quickly as race weekend gets closer. There is also space available for the Tony Banovich 5k and kids marathon.

Race organizers are actively recruiting volunteers for the events. Nearly 800 volunteers are needed for aid stations, course support, packet pickup, finish line operations, and community cheering locations.

Economic Impact: How the Race Boosts Missoula

Race weekend, which takes place June 26-28, has become much more than just a marathon. 2025 saw a $4.2 million economic boost to the area while introducing visitors from around the world to Missoula and Montana.
