Missoula Man Strangles His Neighbor Over a Parking Dispute
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 27, 2024, at approximately 7:38 PM, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched to the Turah campground for a report of an assault. Dispatch had advised that the suspect had returned to his trailer and the purported victim was in his trailer. Upon arrival, the deputy contacted the reporting party, John Doe, who stated that he had been strangled.
The deputy requested more information, and Doe stated that he returned home just prior to the incident occurring, parked down the road near his neighbor’s trailer, and walked into his trailer. Doe added that he heard someone yelling outside for him and when he opened the door to see what was going on, his neighbor was yelling at him.
This neighbor would be later positively identified as 59-year-old Calvin Morris. Doe said that Morris was yelling at him to remove his vehicle from his front yard. The deputy noted that the Turah campground was an RV campground that had permanent spots for people who stayed for long periods of time.
Doe sat down to put on his boots and began yelling back at Morris because he did not want to be yelled at, but the yelling escalated and suddenly Morris reached out with both of his hands and grabbed Doe by the throat. Doe said he felt Morris pushing his thumbs into his adam’s apple so hard that he could not breathe for approximately five seconds.
Doe advised that he was in fear for his life because he thought Morris was going to kill him. Doe stated that he “passed out” for approximately one second because of this strangulation. The deputy noted that Doe’s neck was distinctly red and appeared to him from his training and experience to have been grabbed aggressively.
