Missoula Police Officer Seizes Meth From Probation Violator
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At approximately 1:33 p.m. on September 11, 2024, a Missoula Police Department Officer was dispatched to assist Probation and Parole near Ronan St and W Harlem St. The P&P officer stated that a woman who had a felony warrant for a probation violation, 42-year-old Crystal Armstrong, was in a truck near this intersection. Crystal was in the passenger seat and an unknown male was sitting in the driver seat.
The officer pulled up, placed Crystal into handcuffs, and put her into the back of a patrol vehicle. Then the officer spoke to the male driver and asked if there were any drugs or weapons in the car. He said there was not.
Then the officer went over to the vehicle with Probation who collected Crystal’s belongings. Probation requested that the officer search Crystal’s immediate area in the vehicle where she could have hidden something. When the officer opened the glove box, she saw two clear, glass, pipes with white residue, consistent with what a methamphetamine pipe looks like. According to court documents, the officer also pulled out a small baggie of a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The owner’s manual to the truck, believed to belong to the male driver, was among Crystal’s belongings. The officer asked the male driver about what was found. At first, he denied knowing anything about them, but later, he stated he saw Crystal take his owner’s manual out of the glove box and place the items inside the glove box.

The officer walked over to Crystal to attempt to obtain a statement from her, but Crystal started yelling. Crystal wanted to be handcuffed in the front and when the officer told her no, she became very irate. The officer offered to place her in two sets of handcuffs if the issue was shoulder pain or check her handcuffs to make sure they were not too tight, but she refused those options and continued to scream at the officer. Then she told the officer to get away from her, so the officer shut the door. Right after the officer did so, she heard a large “thud” from Crystal kicking the door.
Ultimately, Crystal was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility where she is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
