Missoula Man Charged With Felony Theft Again, Stole a Running Car

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At approximately 1:43 a.m. on November 10, 2022, a Missoula Police Department officer was informed of a reported stolen vehicle that was parked on or near Addison Street. The registered owner stated that the vehicle was left running but that he had possession of the key so there was no key inside the vehicle.

The owner mentioned that the vehicle was a 2012 Kia Optima with a temporary paper-style license plate. The owner said he had just recently bought the vehicle and that it was valued at $12,000. 

At around 3:08 a.m., the officer said he observed the stolen vehicle on Grant Creek Road. As the vehicle turned onto Reserve Street, the officer noticed that the driver performed an improper turn by not taking the required position in the most immediate lane of travel. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold picks up the story. 

“The officer got behind the vehicle and was able to confirm it was the reported stolen vehicle,” Arnold said. “The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop and the driver, Danial Hendry, was taken into custody without incident. This case is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department.” 

Court documents indicate Hendry admitted that he was currently on felony probation. This is not the first time Hendry has been arrested for theft. On July 20, 2021, Hendry was charged with felony attempted theft. On January 19, 2021, Hendry was charged with felony theft and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs. On February 16, 2021, Hendry was charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs. 

Hendry is currently being charged with felony theft, improper right turn, failure to obey instructions of traffic control devices, driving without a valid license, and attempted obstructing a peace officer. On Thursday, Hendry made his initial appearance in Missoula Justice Court and his bail was set at $10,000.
