Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 1, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a casino located in the 1200 block of Broadway for a report of an assault with a weapon. Dispatch advised that a female said she was being chased by her ex-boyfriend with a knife.

An officer responded and located Jane Doe who may have been under the influence. Doe advised that 28-year-old Tyler Little Dog threatened her with a knife approximately ten to fifteen minutes earlier. Doe said she and Little Dog had been dating and were arguing about various things. She said they walked onto the casino lawn and Little Dog threatened her with a large knife.

The officer went into the casino and spoke to the original complainant, a casino employee. The employee showed the officer the surveillance video. The officer noticed that Little Dog appeared upset and was yelling while holding a large knife. Little Dog then walked towards Doe with the knife in front of him. Doe backed up and quickly ran past Little Dog toward the casino. Then Little Dog placed the knife into a blue bag and left.

Another officer located a male believed to be Little Dog or his cousin at the Poverello Center. When the officer approached the male, the male stated, “Does this have to do with [Doe]?” The officer continued to try to identify the male, but the male refused to provide his name. Then the male pulled out a bottle of wine and began chugging it. The officer took the bottle away and asked the male to identify himself again.

The male stood up stating he was going to jail anyway and identified himself as Little Dog. Little Dog had a blue bag sitting next to him that other individuals at the Poverello Center stated was his.

While transporting Little Dog to the jail, he said the situation was unfair and said, “It’s like you get pushed, and you get pushed, and you get pushed, until you finally snap.” Little Dog admitted he had an argument with Doe but denied any weapon being involved. Little Dog then said he was done answering questions. The officer seized the blue bag and applied for a search warrant. At this point, the warrant had not been executed.

Little Dog is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon.
