10 Things Yellowstone Wants Tourists To Know This Summer
Yellowstone National Park will see more and more people flooding through the entrances as summer ramps up. More people mean more problems, unfortunately.
YNP posted its "Top 10 Things to Know About Visiting Yellowstone National Park During The 2026 Summer Season."
Here's what you need to know:
1) Reservations are NOT required to enter Yellowstone
That's a change at Glacier National Park for 2026, too. You still need a park entrance pass, however.
2) Check road conditions
Especially in the springtime and early summer, you never know when the roads will go sideways.
3) Plan ahead
Reserve your campsites, lodging, acquire boat permits, etc.
4) Don't screw with the wildlife
How many times do we have to tell the tourons... DON'T PET THE ANIMALS.

5) Drive responsibly
You're driving through one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Don't be driving like a maniac. Enjoy the ride, and also, don't park like a jerk.
6) Stay on walking paths
Specifically, YNP says to stay on boardwalks. You'll injure yourself when you leave the boardwalks. Remember when former James Bond Pierce Brosnan got caught going rogue at YNP?

7. "Enhance your experience."
"Download the free National Park Service app before you arrive in the park for interactive maps, tours of park places, on-the-ground accessibility information, and more."
8. You won't have service
Good luck trying to call or text someone because cell service is extremely limited throughout much of the park.
9. Prepare for the weather
The weather can change on a dime. Don't get caught in a hailstorm with a t-shirt and shorts.
10. Make the most of your trip
YNP says to attend a ranger program or check out the Tribal Heritage Center.
