Skiers Freeze as Bear Family Charges Across Resort Slope
Let me preface the article by saying I'm not a skier. I'm out of my element because I have never been on skis since moving to Montana. It's busy when you work in a basketball arena or football stadium every Saturday from August to March.
So you won't find me on a ski hill usually, but now you definitely won't find me at a ski resort after seeing a family of bears racing across a slope.

This took place at Northstar Resort in California near Lake Tahoe.
Look at the mama bear leading her two cubs. She's just chugging across the slope on a mission.
By the way, good job by those skiers avoiding the bears. Typically, you'll see those tourist dummies try to get up close and personal with wildlife, like that guy who decided to slap a moose in Big Sky once upon a time.

On a sadder front, someone chimed in, suggesting the bears shouldn’t be there.
Bear expert chiming in - we do not want to see bears out of hibernation this early & in these conditions. It’s possible their den was disturbed (which can happen when bears den at or near ski resorts) and mama bear abandoned the den with her cubs. It’s too early and there likely aren’t food sources available in the forest
Man... one comment really put a damper on what was supposed to be a wild and entertaining video.
Anyways, has this ever happened to you while skiing in Montana? If you have a story, let us know in our mobile app.
