Missoula Music Scene Honors Shawn Nomura With UCS Reunion
Tomorrow night, the metal family is coming together in Missoula. But it’s not just for a show. It’s about life, community, and the music that brought us together. SATURDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 7 PM AT THE DARK HORSE BAR... UNIVERSAL CHOKE SIGN will play for the first time in years to honor our friend SHAWN NOMURA, who tragically passed away in Humboldt County.
The Last Encore
Shawn wasn’t one of the crowd. He was part of the culture. As a former Missoula business owner, he made everyone feel welcome; he left his mark. He came up with some amazing work in his time as part-owner of Kronos Customs and Nomura Customs. Tomorrow’s memorial show, billed as The Last Encore, is one of those nights you’ll never forget.
All the Heavy Hitters Back on Stage
This isn’t just Universal Choke Sign blowing dust off the amps. JJ, Per, G-Nizzle, and Dave are all suiting up. Missoula’s own Ambedext will rejoin the band to provide backup, and if that’s not enough, he’ll also reunite with them to perform Streets Rock. One of Shawn’s favorite songs. That track alone is going to light the place up.
More Than Just a Show
This night is about more than headbanging. It’s about telling stories, remembering a friend, and proving once again how tight Missoula’s music community is. Metal, hip-hop, punk... None of it matters tomorrow. What matters is showing up, celebrating Shawn’s life, and doing it the only way this town knows how: loud, proud, and together.
So don’t just scroll past the flyer. Be at the Dark Horse. 8/30/2025 @ 7 PM. One night only.
