Tim Montana and Friends Headline New Veterans Fundraiser in Missoula
I have promoted many concerts and fundraisers throughout my broadcasting career.
This one is different.
It is something called "Outside the Wire," a veterans benefit concert on Saturday, August 15th, at the Sunrise Saloon in Missoula. Our very own Tim Montana will be making the drive from the historic Wise River Club to deliver an acoustic jam session like only Tim Montana can.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be handed over to the annual Veterans Bear Camp program operated by the Corvallis Legion Riders.
It's personal because my Dad lived it.
My Dad was a Vietnam veteran. He struggled with severe PTSD and spent the latter years of his life in a wheelchair. Even so, he never lost his love for hunting or being in the mountains.

Just a little over a year ago, he was invited to attend the Veterans Bear Camp. The volunteers made sure he could enjoy every part of the experience. They helped him get where he needed to go, treated him like family, and reassured him that he could get outside and on the trail without having to be confined to the truck
The funny thing is, if you asked my dad about that trip, he didn't talk much about the bear hunt.
He talked about the hunting camp.
After the hunt, I asked him what his favorite part was. He smiled and said his favorite part was sitting around the coffee pot every morning, "telling lies" with the other veterans. Those conversations meant more to him than anything that happened in the woods.

Watching my dad put on his hunting hat, pick up his rifle, and head down the trail is something I'll never forget. For a few days, he wasn't thinking about doctor's appointments.
He was a warrior again.
He was a veteran.
My old man passed away on January 7th, 2026. Looking back now, that bear camp became one of the last great outdoor adventures of his life. It's a memory I'll always be grateful for and one I'll carry with me forever.

For those not familiar with military lingo, "the Wire" is a term for the security perimeter of a forward operating base. Inside the wire, you're relatively safe. Outside the wire is where the mission begins.
This event is not your average "pass around the hat" fundraiser. It is an emotional support platform that helps veterans rebuild connections, getting them outside and enjoying the outdoors.
With support from great local businesses like Montana Knife Company, Madhouse Cannabis, A&B Roofing, and The Sunrise Saloon. We couldn't get this all done without your help. And I encourage any other local business owners who want to join in on the event to reach out to us.

Today, I officially announce that ticket sales for the event are now ON SALE (only $25).
Every ticket helps send more disabled veterans to Veterans Bear Camp, where they'll experience the same sense of camaraderie that meant so much to my dad.
