Massive Corn Dog Recall Hits Montana: 58 Million Pounds Pulled
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is alerting consumers about a massive recall that includes popular products that are available in Montana.
The Hillshire Brands Company is recalling corn dogs and sausage on a stick products under the State Fair and Jimmy Dean brand names. The reason for the recall is the possibility of pieces of wood in the batter used in making the corn dogs and sausage on a stick products.
What Products Are Included in the Recall?
There have been multiple consumer complaints about the products, with five injuries reported at this time. Hillshire Brands investigated the cause and determined that “wooden sticks entered the production process prior to product battering.”
How to Identify Recalled Corn Dogs
The products involved in the recall contain establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” printed on the packaging. The products were sold online and shipped to retail establishments across the country. Some of these products were sold to school districts across the country.
In total, about 58 million pounds of products are being recalled. One concern is that recalled products may remain in home and school freezers.
The recommended procedure is to dispose of these products or to return them to the store where they were purchased.
