Missoula has experienced several windstorms earlier this year, including a historic wind event over the summer that caused widespread damage. Many trees and branches that were damaged during that storm remain untrimmed or removed. This could increase the risk of further damage if the strong winds knock down additional trees or large branches. Property owners in the area should be aware of the potential for falling debris, which could cause damage to homes, vehicles, and power lines.

The Weather Service is advising people take some precautions in preparation for this upcoming storm. Stay in lower levels of homes, remain alert to the possibility of falling trees or branches. Stay away from windows, flying debris or falling trees could shatter windows and create additional hazards.
