Discover East Missoula’s 2 Hidden Culinary Gems
It's been a while since I have spent some time in East Missoula. At one time I had family and friends who lived there. Most of the time I spend there is when I am getting ready for a river float.
There is a lot I’ve been missing out on by not spending time there. Last weekend I made a point to go check out some of what East Missoula has to offer. It's weird that I make it sound like it was an adventure to a far-away land, when it's literally right next door.
Recently a new bakery has opened its doors in East Missoula and the cinnamon rolls are fantastic.

There is also a hidden gem in East Missoula that is serving up some amazing food. I have heard about it for a while and I finally gave it a try. If you are looking for authentic Indian food, Jay's Stop is the place to go in East Missoula.
Exploring East Missoula’s Hidden Food Scene
Yes, it's inside the convenience store. And it's great. I don’t consider myself a ‘foodie,’ but some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten was in Glasgow, Scotland, and this rivals that. The Butter Chicken with the garlic naan was amazing.
There is so much more to try that I am going to have to start making regular trips to East Missoula to try more of their dishes.

Another great spot in East Missoula is the Reno Lounge Casino and Cafe. We recently asked who has the best cup of coffee in Missoula, and the Reno was mentioned.

They serve great breakfasts and dinners too. For those with big appetites you can check out the Reno Burger with two patties, ham and cheese on a burger.
The crew at the Reno has been very generous over the years with their donations to our annual Guerrilla Turkey Drive as we collect donations for area food banks every Thanksgiving.
Even though Missoula gets a majority of the love, East Missoula has a lot more to offer than just being a spot for people to start their floating adventures.
