Bitterroot Celtic Gathering is Coming!
The 13th Annual Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering is coming August 20th and 21st at the Daly Mansion in Hamilton, Mt., gates open at 9am both days. This is an amazing event for anyone who is Irish, Scottish, Welsh or just wants to be Celtic for a couple days all are welcome.
According to Rob Lynn, one of the organizers of the event, there is something for everyone at this event. Cultural events and activities including Highland and Irish dancing demonstrations, bagpipe and drum bands.
The Celtic Dragon Pipe Band
Two stages of live traditional and contemporary music, Highland heavy athletic events, including the crowd favorite "Caber Toss", which has been described as flipping a telephone pole end over end. For those that want to trace their heritage there will be multiple "Clan Tents" that can assist in those that want to look up their Celtic genealogy.
Find out where your family came from
There will be herding dog demonstrations, live jousting. For the adults local beer, whiskey and mead tastings and food.
Celtic merchandise vendors
Saturday night there will be a party called a "Ceilidh" (pronounced Kay-lee). Sunday morning church services known as "Kirking of the Tartans" and Sunday afternoon tea. One of the most important things to know for visitors at the event is on-site parking at the Daly mansion is limited. While there are premium parking spots available there aren't enough for everyone. There is a free shuttle from Hamilton High School directly to the front gate. Volunteers are wanted if you would like to help out get a hold of the Bitterroot Celtic Society.
