Thousands Gather for Bitterroot Celtic Games in Hamilton
The weather for the Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering in Hamilton, Montana over the weekend was great. Saturday was a warm day, but not as hot as it has been in the past, and Sunday saw some cloud cover and cooler temperatures.
It was another great weekend of fun. Thousands of people showed up to enjoy the music, athletic competitions and the food.
There are a lot of people who travel to be a part of this event. There are vendors from Utah, Colorado, and Washington that show up year after year.
A Moving Tribute During Ceremonies
Pipe bands from Spokane, Billings, Boise, Coeur d’Alene, and Missoula performed and competed. There was a special moment during the opening ceremonies when they read a list of names of the people who are no longer with us. This year, a representative from the Coeur d’Alene Firefighters Pipe Band played a tune in honor of his fallen comrades from the tragedy earlier this year. It was a very moving moment.
The athletes who traveled to compete at the games are also impressive. The strength and technique they use to compete is fun to watch.
Bands Bring Energy to Bitterroot
There were some other very talented bands that played, like Celtica Nova, and the Harp Twins, and Volfgang Twins.

This event continues to grow every year, and the plans are already starting for next year's celebration. Set a reminder for the third weekend in August 2026 to join us in Hamilton.
The next big Celtic event coming up will be the annual Fáilte Montana Irish Festival at Missoula’s Caras Park, on Friday September 5th. With the first Griz home football game the following day. The first weekend of September looks like it is going to be a busy time in Missoula. See you then, and don’t forget to support your local pipe band.
