Montana Skies Could Light Up With Northern Lights This Week

Montana has sure seen its share of weather these past few days. 

From Floods to Snow: Nature's Surprises

We've seen epic flooding in Glacier National Park. We've seen snowfall in the higher elevations. It feels like Mother Nature has been throwing just about everything she's had at us. 

The good news is it finally looks like things are going to settle down.

July Celebrations: Clear Skies Ahead!

As we head into the Fourth of July holiday, we're expected to warm up a bit and hopefully get a chance to actually enjoy July in Montana. With the skies expected to clear, we could also have another reason to look up. 

According to NOAA's latest forecast, a geomagnetic storm could give parts of Montana a chance to see the Northern Lights Thursday night into early Friday.  

Viewing Tips: Catching the Aurora in Montana

Now, like always, it all comes down to the weather and what the storm can bring on it's way to Earth. If the clouds stick around, we probably won't see much. But if the skies clear like they're expected to, we could be treated to another impressive display.

Much of Montana missed out on June's Strawberry Moon because of all the storms and cloud cover we've been dealing with lately. Hopefully this time around we'll finally get a chance to enjoy a clear night sky.

If you're hoping to catch the aurora, you'll probably have to stay up a little later than normal and get away from the city lights. That's always the best recipe for seeing them. 

A Night of Wonder: Fireworks and More

Think about it: Northern Lights, followed by drone shows, followed by Fourth of July fireworks.
